Instructions

Please take two minutes to read some additional information that will help you during your hire.

Assembling the Board

Roll out the board and when on a flat surface – preferable grass.

Prepare the board

Twist off the cap (anti-clockwise) and make sure the valve is ‘sprung up’ before you commence pumping. To be certain of this, twist or press down on the valve gently and it will either stay raised or be down – you’re aiming for up! This will ensure the valve is one way and will stop air escaping before inflating!

Gotta pump it up!

It’s time to attach the hose to the board and begin to pump. The PSI is indicated on the red numbers on the pump – it’s worth noting that PSI won’t register until around five minutes of pumping, this will then start to display on the dial. The PSI should be no less than 10 PSI, with the maximum at 15 PSI. The higher the PSI, the more rigid and sturdy it will be to balance. The ideal PSI we recommend is 12 PSI, however, if you weigh 80+kg I would go to 15PSI. 5-10 minutes of pumping is expected per board. The pumps should be kept separate from the bags.

Fin attachment

Flip the board on its top, the fin will slide into place and should be locked in with the pin (this is a plastic attachment on the string) to ensure it’s secure. Please do not drop or sit the boards on the ground with the fin underneath. This will bend/snap the fins and you could lose part of your deposit.

Dry Bag

This should be rolled 4-5 times and then clipped together to protect your items. The dry bags can be clipped onto the paddleboard at the front of the board to stop them from going down the river if you fall off. Please ensure when carrying the bags you are using both shoulder straps to avoid any extra stress being placed upon one strap which could cause damage.

You are now ready to launch!

Ease the board into the water, ensuring that the water is deep enough for the fin to not touch the bottom.  We suggest sitting on your knees initially to gain your balance.

Ready to stand?

If you are a beginner, try starting just on your knees, with your knees placed on either side of the carry handle on the centre of the board and keep looking straight ahead, not focusing down at your feet.

When you’re ready to stand, put one foot flat (as if proposing to your beloved!) and stand up quickly, feet pointing outwards at a 45-degree angle on the edge of the board, placed centrally on either side of the carry handle. Keep looking ahead and then paddle away, both the action of paddling and momentum will help keep your balance. If you fall off….just swim to the board and hop back on!

Emergency Contact

If at any point you get into difficulty on the water or become injured, then the responsible party member/available person should call 999, or one of the supplied contact numbers if deemed more appropriate. We recommend downloading the “what3words” app which pinpoints exactly your location and allows emergency services to easily locate you if you encounter any problems.

Finished for the day?

Detach the fin, deflate the board, roll the board and return to its bag. Please ensure the fins are kept at the top of the bag so we can locate these at the end of the hire.

Boards are to be returned between 5:30 to 6:00 pm that same day of hire and should be returned clean. If you require an urgent drop-off, contact the team on the phone numbers below to arrange.

Most importantly, have fun!

If you have any problems, contact Adam on 07342 912 452 or Jenny on 07419 849 468 and we will be more than happy to help.
